Enjoyed the non-electric yogurt maker —- fewer EMFs in this epidemic time.
I love how this yogurt maker looks ! I don't have to hide it away in a cabinet where it will sit, begging to be used. And absolutely love the small vertical footprint. A whole quart of creamy, delicious home made yogurt in an 5"x10" space ! Pricey, but no regrets here :)
I have used the yogurt maker about 4 times now, and each time the end product is as expected. I have only used whole dairy milk, and to get the thicker consistency I want, I drain about a cup of the whey after the 8 hour set-time, using a cheesecloth. The initial process takes about a half hour, including cleaning up the dishes. I also place the whole unit into a small cooler just to keep the air consistent around the container. The flavor is very good.
I have only tried my yogurt maker once but the finished product was thin and didn't really taste at all like yogurt. I used pure oat milk but apparently it is difficult to actually make vegan yogurt. I'm not sure if I would have been better off with an electric maker as maybe it needed to be warmer but I will try again with a different plant based milk and hope for a better outcome.
The whole unit doesn't take up much room in the kitchen, but yet makes perfect yoghurt every time
